“Liberation war is my identity. I grew up in the spirit of the liberation war. My children will grow up like this,” said Tropa Mazumdar, an actor, cultural activist and executive member of Sammilita Sangskritik Jot.
It is very important to know about the liberation war. Tropa added: “victory day is not new for us. How much people join and know about our victory is the main concern.”
In the map of the world, a red-green flag and a country established its name. As an independent country, its name is Bangladesh. Because of the sacrifices of the freedom fighters Bangladesh became independent. A theater activist Mohammad Abdul Haque, who is a freedom fighter and working in Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) said: “we did not get that independent Bangladesh for which we had fought. But I am hopeful.”

Punishing the collaborators would have been a right decision at the time of the liberation war. “Still I cannot tell the exact number of freedom fighters. It is changing regularly. Collaborators number is also depending on government.  If we had got the list of collaborators in liberation war than we would have surely killed them,” added Mohammad Abdul Haque.
Victory day inspires foreigners also just like Bangladeshi. Mr. Fogard a foreigner, working in Dhaka University International Language Institute said: “I live in Bangladesh for the last four years. I just look around the city and also enjoy the victory rally very much.”
He also included: “everybody knows about 16th December. The freedom fighters still inspire all over the world. ”

Children also came to the rally with their parents and institutions. They came with the same enthusiasm like the elder. “I come to the rally every year and gather new experiences from here,” said Nafia Naima Babui a student of class VII in Scholastica School and also a member of Nrrittanchon and Nataraj institute.
This year many people come to the rally for the first time. Sultana Mehejabin, a student of Home-Economics College under Dhaka University said: “this is my first victory event after joining Muktodhara Sangskriti Charcha. I really enjoy the event. Like every year I hope Sammilita Sangskritik Jot will do something new in this year.”

Culture is the matter of pride. It creates consciousness about liberation war. Ramendra Mazumdar, the executive member of Sammilita Sangskritik Jot, an actor, and cultural activist said in his opening speech: “today our procession is for a secular Bangladesh. Sammilita Sangskritik Jot and other cultural organization have kept together our culture and liberal heritage.”

After 1975, Sammilita Sangskritik Jot arranges this event every year. In this year the rally was inaugurated by Ramendra Mazumdar. It started from Saheed Minar at 10 A.M, then crossed Doyel Chattar, Shahbag and finished at Saheed Minar again.
