In Educational institute area of Dhaka city like Dhanmondi area have many women’s hostel and Many students of these institute are living in women’s hostel by struggling. In spite of giving enough taka to hostel’s owner, they do not get good quality food and other facilities.

Tough life of the hostel living students

For studies a type of a force students are lived here. Hostel’s owners are starting large business with students. Hostel is not like a home, it is known of all people but how are food item and environment in hostel, it is not known of all people. In Dhanmondi area have three VIP hostel like Made In Chatri Nibas, Nir Chatri Nibas and Shanahodhara Chatri Nibas. Hearing of VIP ,people think it is better than other hostel. it is natural.

If any floor of flat have set of tiles then Hostel’s owners, name of their hostel give VIP hostel. Moreover The name of Bristi of Nir hostel a student said that she gives 6000 taka monthly for a single room ,it is very congested room and bed is very small. A Kitchen is used as a single bed room. She also added that according to her taka she do not get good quality food.Other student of same hostel said that she gives 5200 taka for three beds room ,hostel owners take more money from them but they do not get any facilities. She also said that there are some rules but rules is not strict, hostel supervisor do not take care about rules. They are strict about taka. One flat have fourteen students.‘Monthly hostel owner get 74,000 taka from fourteen students’ said a student name of Tazeen.

One the other hand Hostel manager of Nir Hostel said that monthly renting of a flat is 40,000 taka. At least seeing hostel owner more profit from students monthly. The manager of Shanahodhara Chatri Nibas ,Belal hossain said that they give more facilities and good food to students. He also said that one to five rent one lacks twenty thousand taka, they do not more profit from students. But students of there said different talk that one to five floor sixty students live and every students room rent is 4500. From students monthly they profit one laks taka. Decoration of there floor is not good, cooking is not good and security is not also strict. Every hostel have same problem

. According to money hostel owners do not give good quality food and they do not take little money .They are busy their business. They do not take report any student. They are buying or renting flat and on these start business. In a far away many students come Dhaka city to study .because of flat rent more they select hostel to live. But there are also same case, hostel owners do not give sacrifice.

“Developers can’t sell their flats and it affects our business directly”, Habibur Rahaman , a rod and cement business man said it on interview with the with the students of University of Liberal Arts. He added that “Lots of unsold flats make the builders indifferent for making new buildings. We can’t sell our rod and cements. That’s why market is not profitable”. Unsold rods in habibur Rahaman’s shop. Some of them are a year old.

Sharif Hasan is a sanitary and tiles business man in mirpur area for fifteen year. According to his statement, for the last six month, business is going dull. “We couldn’t make more profits in the last 6/7 months and our cost and profit is approximately same”. “The number of our customers has decreased. We get big order rarely. Market situation is not pleasant. It’s better to sell nothing than anything”, he further said.

Nazmul hasan has a wire and electrical tools shop in mirpur-14. He is saying that, market is becoming more corporate. Companies sell products at cheaper rate then the shop owners. And some company also delivers their products to the customers. This hampers our business badly”. He again said that, ”My monthly cost for the shop is around One lakh twenty thousand taka. I could save some money after all expenses. But now I can’t give salary to my salesmen in time. And I can’t save money.” Sharif Hasan said that, he has one lakh taka cost for a month and and at the end of the month only thirty or forty thousand taka remain for his expense. Before he has three staff in the shop. Now he has two of them. The less efficient worker has been fired to keep the expanse low.

Most of the businessmen are accusing the unstable real estate business. They are saying that, builders can’t sell their flats and apartments. And the shop number has also increased. Many competitors in the market are also a reason. New companies are offering products at cheap rate. They also offer many gifts and discounts on the products. These are some possible reasons for the unsteady situation of the linkage industry products.

Many businessmen are doing other businesses for more income. Some of them are selling new items to attract the customers. And many of them can’t leave their business. Habibur Rahaman saying that,” I am doing this business for thirty years and I have invested lots of money for this rod business. Some of money has been stuck in the market. As an old businessman, I will have to continue it further”. But the products quality is improving. New products are coming in the market. Customers have no complain about the quality of products. Businessmen also exchange products if it needs so. Sometimes they provide transport facility for the customers.

Abul hossien was a farmer of kishorgang. He has two daughters. After the marriage of their daughters, only he and his wife left in the family. His family wasn’t solvent before. But he could manage to fulfill the needs of his family. But for the last five years, he faced difficulties for work. There was crisis for work. So, at the age of sixty, he came to Dhaka as a daily labor and his old wife live there alone. He is saying that” I have no money. I have two lags and two hands. That’s why I have to work for my family’s survival”.

Noor Ali is also a migrant. His home district is Mymansing. He is working as a daily labor for building and construction work for seven years. He is twenty two year old. At a young age he started work as a daily labor. He runs from district to districts for work. But he has done most of his work in Dhaka. He spent only two months with his family in a year. Like these men, majority of these daily labors are migrants from different parts of Bangladesh.

At their village, their income wasn’t sufficient. They had a average income of three or four thousand taka in a month. And for the betterment of their life, they came to the capital as a construction worker. Now they have daily four hundred to five hundred take for their toil.

Shabuj, a young migrant construction worker from Kurigram said that, “We work as a group here. We all contact with the contractor. And we work five or six days in a week and collect our money in week basis “. He added that there is too much poverty in their area. Every person of the family has to work to run the family. The young male works in the lands or as labors”. “We live most of our time without our families. That’s why we form a group of our known workers. Because in Dhaka city, it is very hard to live. When we get sick , our group members help each other” shabij said. These illiterate people also face some difficulties in the city. They don’t have any home to live. They built a hut besides the building, where they work.

The assistant engineer of the project where these people work, is Mr. mustack. He says that, “at the beginning of the work, the workers live in huts near the project. Once the first floor is completed, they will shift into the building. And stay there until the work has done.” Some of these workers family members are also construction worker. kader ali and his son works together. His small daughter and wife live in mymansing, his elder son is a daily labor in the lands.

Most of these workers were farmer or small entrepreneur in their villages. but the rural economy and climate forced these people to go out for work. Sometimes, these migrant workers face difficulties in big cities. Sometimes they don’t be paid as the contract. Some worker experienced goons attack at the project. In some cases, contractors don’t give priority for safety issues. If a accident happen, the workers sorrow has knows no bounds. Because they don’t receive much compensation from the companies or the builders.
