 Experience Behind The Award Winning Cinema

The director of Shunte ki pao! Shared about his film experience with Ulab students on 23 December 2016.

In the event director Kamar Ahmed Saimon was also there in the session of Director talks. He described every experiences with his film. He told about the script, cast and the story of shooting days in a small village with some innocent village people. He also said that how he was with there in shooting days.
In the director talks session, one student asked a question to Kamar Ahmed Saimon‘ what is the sub text of this movie?’ Saimon replied “ he never want to find a sub text of his movie because if there is a short sub text there was less emotion”.
Professor Sajjad Hossain from ULAB was also attended the event, after watching the movie Sajjad Hossain said, ‘ there is a buzz in this movie which makes audience satisfied ‘

In conversation with some audience, ‘they said it was a social movie which defines the nature of middle class and lower-class people life stories with their big dreams.’

There were two sections of the program film screening and director talks.The event of Are You Listening! (শুনতেকিপাও!) was organized by Cinemascope. Cinemascope is a extra curriculum program for Ulab students. it is a film apprenticeship activity.

Are You Listening! (শুনতেকিপাও!) is a Bangladeshi narrative film directed  by Kamar Ahmed Saimon. This movie story based on tidal surge named Aila. This movie described the struggle of people life in the time of natural disaster. The main character of this movie are Rakhi and Soumen with their  four years son Rahul. they fight for a better living while living during a time old broken home and attempt to guarantee a better future for their four years child Rahul. This movie story help us to know  how Bangladeshi people keep their dreams even in the worst of situations. Director Kamar Ahmed Simon shows  a natural scenes of village and he highlighted a small Hindu family so beautifully in this film.

Shunte Ki Pao! was the 'Window ornament Opener' of 55th DOK Leipzig in Germany (2012),Later the film won the 'Fabulous Prix' in the 35th Cinema du Reel held in Paris (2013) and 'Brilliant Conch' in Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2014, India, as the best full length documentary. It was additionally in the 'Official Selection' of the 25th International Documentary Festival of Amsterdam (IDFA) in Netherlands (2012)  and in the New Asian Current Competition (NAC) of 25th Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in Japan (2013).Earlier the film was among the 9 chose ventures welcomed for Editing Lab of Berline Talents program in Berlin International Film Festival 2012. In an uncommon move as a narrative, it was discharged in theater in Bangladesh on 21 February 2014 in Bashundhara Star Cineplex and effectively kept running for four weeks. In 2015, the film was granted with Bangladesh National Film Award as the Best Feature (Non-fiction) gave over by Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

After attending this event students learned more about film and film concepts. Students and audience thanked to cinemascope for organizing this kind of events.
